four villages surrounding Steepwood Abbey. They are better read in sequence because they are linked by bits
of an overall mystery running through them, but you can certainly enjoy them independently, too. We all

"It was great fun to be involved in it. The area in which the Steepwood Scandal is set is the county of Northamptonshire.
The town of Northampton is mentioned in some of the books, and the wood that is featured in some of the stories is
based on the Salcey Forest, which is still there. In fact, I think Northamptonshire rather pretty. True, there aren't many
hills but there was the Forest, which was lovely. When I was researching my two books for the series I went for a
walk there and I also visited Sulgrave Manor, where some of George Washington's ancestors lived. I used
Sulgrave as the basis for Hewly Manor. A lot of planning went into the setting of the stories and the drawing
of the map. We were issued with lots of background notes and information." - Nicola Cornick

"I wrote up four other heroes, including Nicola's (!) into scenes in my first book, and sent them to the authors
concerned. Only slight adjustments were called for in a couple, the others accepted pretty much what I wrote.
One of my heroines appeared in someone else's book and it was okay too. We liaised like mad though
and the interlocking character scenes were mostly short. Paula Marshall probably had the toughest
job, bringing several couples from other books into the final one." - Elizabeth Bailey
